Mix & Match Much?
I love putting outfits together and love the compliments that come with the clothes. Normally, I suppose, I start with one or two principle items and build a supporting outfit around, but I wanted to share this one because despite every piece being a signature, the sum is still greater than its parts.
Let’s start with the trousers – these are second-hand/vintage very posh corduroys given to me a few years ago (you can tell they are posh because they are unbranded and the waist fastenings are more like suit trousers rather than high street fashion style).
Uniqlo socks (of course).
The shoes are Sam Narvaez x adidas Pro Model skate shoes. You can get a video review here. Basically they are like a mid height Superstar shell-toe.
Moving back up towards the top, we’ve got a vintage 90s Adidas track top in what I would call bottle green (some might call it forest green, whatever).
For a bit of detail at the neck, we have more vintage in the form of an Italian silk scarf, tied in a cravat knot, tying the colours of the trousers, track top and overcoat together.
Finally, the aforementioned overcoat. A brand new purchase from Uniqlo. A classic style and boxy shape.
You can see the styling video on our Instagram and TikTok accounts. Search for @tipyourfeathers on either app.
This outfit is about messing with tradition and combining streetwear with traditional profiles. Lots of texture contrast. High street jams with vintage blends. Distinction without flamboyance.
Don’t be afraid to mix it up and try a few different combinations.
Tip your feathers, fly high!
