A protest poster created by Ali Campbell in a classic style, black on white, bold text. The text reads 'Don't Act The Goat!'

Scapegoating

The latest drop. This is a campaign that had been brewing for a good few months between me, ASSC and Halogen. The self-catering industry in Scotland has been much maligned for years now; blamed for all Scotland’s housing ills. The data suggests a very different picture, that’s an aside. I enjoyed being involved from the beginning to understand and translate the data into a graphic presentation.

We spent two days on a road trip, turning up outside council headquarters and the Scottish Parliament with our placards and the specially commissioned touring ad van.

I was tasked with the creative concept and ultimately creating the final videos for the ad van.

‘Scapegoating’ of the self-catering industry was the idea and therefore goats became the theme. So, naturally, off we went to film some goats. Thanks to The Bus Stop for letting us come and get our footage of your fine and expressive herd. How do you make goats look like a protest? Decide for yourself.

You can see the videos I created for the ad van here:

The goat thing wasn’t the most obvious approach but it worked. My role on this one? Creative direction, graphic direction, video production and creation.

Still goat it 🙂
